What to expect?

  • Once you have been seated the guide will go through a safety orientation ensuring everyone on board knows where the lifejackets are stored and any other pre trip details prior to departure of your adventure.
  • If you have any medical conditions it's important you speak with your doctor before booking a trip.  The boat does frequent offshore water which is a fun and exciting experience but for some with certain health conditions it could be a hazard, please check with your doctor.
  • Sightings of marine wildlife while on your trip is high but not guaranteed.  Due to the abundance of species in our waters you will see many of the species we have highlighted on this site on your tour.  Depending on the time of the year certain species of Whales, Sealions and so on are very easy to sight while other times of year they may have moved along on their migration.   The good news is you will see many different wildlife species while on your tour.  Gray Whales typically start to show up in March and hang around for a large portion of the summer.  Humpback Whales show up mid summer and have a tendency to hang around Barclay Sound and feed a good chunk of mid to late summer and into September.  Orca's show up sporadically but seem to always be on the move in our waters on the hunt for food.  Eagles, Sea Lions, Seals and Otters are seen daily.  Should you choose a Black Bear Tour mid to low tide are the best times to view.  Coastal Black Bears feed on the shorelines during low tide when the water has receded exposing their buffet of food.
  • Tour times vary for each tour booked, they are approximate and based on an estimated time from departing the dock to arriving back at the dock.

What to bring?

  1. It's important to dress warm and ensure your outer layer will repel water and break the wind.  The boat does offer some protection from the wind while traveling due to having a windshield that you will be seated behind, how ever the rest of the boat is open so bringing an extra layer is important and if it's not needed you can always remove your extra layer while out on the trip.
  2. All passengers are required to sign a waiver to be able to board the vessel prior to departure.  The driver will scan each of your codes at the boat side prior to being seated.
  3. If you are prone to motion sickness it highly advised to speak to a local pharmacy for options well before departure.
